Identify and Solve Conflicts at Home

Conflicts are an uncomfortable way of finding out what really erks our loved ones but if viewed correctly, it is also a good way of taking the understanding of our loved ones to a more intimate level. Even better is that it gives a deeper meaning and interpretation of each others mindset - in reference to the relationship, as we formulate the solution to best resolve the matter.
We must first recognize and differentiate between the two types of conflicts. There are “Internal Conflicts” the kind that makes us unhappy for no apparent reason. It causes dis-accord from within and is more difficult to identify. It can manifest through behaviors, limiting our capabilities and conflicting beliefs or values. “External conflicts” are conflicts with other people and arises from our differences. Differences in goals, beliefs, values, expectation and so forth. Once the conflicts are established we can move forward in finding the best solution.
Compromise is a simple approach to solving conflicts. We compromise to get along with each other and improve our relationships. Collaboration is another way to resolve conflicts. Collaboration views our differences as strengths and utilizes our differences to reach a goal that everyone can agree upon.
We must always have an open dialect when communicating with our family members. Without communication the problem will remain. Remember we are not mind readers so speak up and be assertive when speaking. Assertive just means self-confident in what you are saying. Assertive communication is getting your message across to someone and while doing so, being respectable to their well-being. The great thing about assertive people is they stay focused on the situation and they don’t easily get upset. Practice being assertive until it becomes second nature. Bottom line is finding a solution. Remember, conflict can be good as long as they are resolved constructively.
